One of our speakers at our Winter Series is Wayne Borell is a health promoter for the Waikato/Bay of Plenty Cancer Society.

Wayne is a graduate of Waikato University with a Bachelor of Social Science and a graduate of Auckland Institute of Technology with a Diploma in Recreational Management. Currently Wayne is studing Post Graduate Human Nutrition through Otago University.

Wayne has had first hand experience with cancer, his mother was diagnosed with cervical cancer. This led Wayne to immerse himself in cancer control. Wayne applied for a position as health promoter for the cancer society in 2013. He initiated a Mens health programme called Stand Up Bro and currently helps facilitate the Tane Takitu Ake mens programme. Wayne also works in Tobbaco control, sunsmart and delivery of cancer risk reduction workshops.

Wayne has a passion for nutrition and incorporating nutrition as an intregral support component for people diagnosed with cancer and for people wanting to reduce their risk of being diagnosed with cancer. Through his engagement with people diagnosed with cancer Wayne realised many patients have limited knowledge of nutrition to support them on their cancer journey. This led Wayne to start a food subscription social enterprise company which provides nourish boxes of organic ingredients and meal plan recipes

We also welcome our other speaker for the Winter Series is Nicole Winters, Nicole and her family have moved from the states and made Aotearoa their home. They are grateful to everyone who has welcomed them.
Nicole earned her Master of Social Work degree in 2005, her Master of Clinical Psychology in 2008 and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2010.
Nicole has worked in private practice as a clinical psychologist and founded a not-for-profit mental health clinic before moving here to work with the Cancer psychological and Social Support Service at Lakes DHB. Her clinical interests include cancer, assisted reproduction, trauma, and assessment work.
